I believe in the transformative and healing powers that can come from the therapeutic relationship, and have experienced it for myself in my own counseling. Being a human and traveling through life is not easy for most of us. Having someone to walk alongside us to offer support, validation, and gentle challenging when needed can make a big difference. I will meet you where you are at, and we will travel together.
Families come in all different shapes and sizes, and can be the most challenging and intricate type of micro-community to navigate. Families also have the capacity to be the most loving, nurturing and supportive. Sometimes our families are made up of people we choose, and sometimes they are systems we are born into. The challenges that can occur when roles change (or stagnate) and family systems shift (or become rigid) can be very difficult to navigate alone, and you don't have to.
I am passionate about working with:
Families navigating marriage, cohabitating, divorce, remarriage, and adding of stepparents and stepkids
Families desiring better communication, boundaries, harmony, and healing
Families grieving over a loss of a loved one
The addition of family members through adoption, fostering, or birth
There are so many ways to be in relationship (romantically and platonically), and I value each one. Who we are as individuals and how we walk in the world is impacted by who we are in relationship to others. Relationship therapy can be very powerful, as healing and growth can occur not just at an individual level but at a relational level and then can be better sustained with support and partnership within the relationship.
Examples of areas in which therapy can be helpful in a relationship:
Roles and Boundaries
Sex, Love, and Intimacy
My rates are $70 for individual 50-60 minute sessions, $90 for partners and families. I offer 90 minute individual sessions for $100, and $120 for partners and families.
Sliding scale options are available for clients based on financial need, as I want to make sure that my services are accessible. Please mention your interest in sliding scale pricing when you call, and we can further discuss options.
I do not currently bill insurance. However, if you would like to submit a receipt for insurance reimbursement please let me know and I can provide you with a receipt.
The Therapeutic Relationship:
The relationship between client and therapist is integrally important to the process of therapy. I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation to meet and see if we might be a good fit. I welcome open communication, and urge you to share with me if something feels uncomfortable, and to ask questions or give reflection to the process. Therapy can at times feel raw and vulnerable. Processing and exploring feelings about the process of therapy can be very beneficial, and I welcome these dialogues.
I check my voicemail messages often, and will return your call promptly. If you are in need of emergency services, please call 911. You may also contact the Multnomah County Crisis Line at 503-988-4888.
